MySQL Database Administrator

Responsibilities:

The MySQL DBA must be hands on, willing to own a variety of responsibilities independently, while thriving in a scaling start up environment. Strong initiative will lead to greater responsibility in this position. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • * Setting up and administering databases for our mission critical 24/7 IT operations group reporting to our Director of Operations.
  • * Candidate must be local to office (San Mateo, CA) and be able to get to the office or colo (Sunnyvale, CA) within 45 minutes.
  • * Must have strong initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Requirements:

  • * BS/MS in computer science or related field
  • * 5-7 years of solid DBA skills, setting up and administering databases
  • * Deep knowledge of MySQL is required, Knowledge of Oracle or Infobright a plus
  • * Good understanding of Unix, Linux a plus.
  • * Experience in a large-scale production environment a must.
  • * Experience in an Internet company a plus
  • * Good communications skills
  • * Good documentation skills
  • * Capable of flourishing in both structured and un-structured environments.
  • * Strong self-starter with a can do attitude and enthusiasm for teamwork.
